Beverly was a pastor’s wife, serving at First
Regular Baptist Church, Kansas City, Mo.
She worked for Carver Christian Academy
in Kansas City; Shawnee Mission Christian
School, Westwood, Kan.; and Mission Oaks
Christian School in Kansas City. She served
as a before- and after-school care attendant, substitute teacher
for kindergarten through 12th grade, and camp counselor.
She is survived by her husband, Webster, and their children,
David, Karen Williams, LaSandra, and Crystal.
Ruth Hopewell, 90, April 4, 2014. Ruth and her husband,
William, ministered overseas for 50 years with the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism. They helped establish
Baptist Bible Seminary and Institute in Manila and were part of
ABWE’s first missionaries to Chile. At other times they ministered and lived in South Africa, New Zealand, and Scotland.
She was preceded in death by her husband on March 6, 2010,
after 66 years of marriage.
She is survived by her five children, William James III, Carol
Kilian, Sharon Santamaria, Thomas, and Lois Anderson.
Melbourne “Mel” Stadt, 94, on May 1, 2014. Mel pastored
churches in Michigan, Iowa, and Illinois, including Calvary
Baptist Church, Walnut, Iowa, and Calvary Baptist Church,
Forest City, Iowa. He was also a full-time field representative for
Shepherds Ministries, Union Grove, Wis.
His wife, Eleanor, preceded him in death on Dec. 29, 2011,
after 69 years of marriage.
He is survived by his son, Jerry, and his daughter, Jeanne Carroll.
Ralph “Rus” Waud, 92, on Nov. 22, 2013. Rus, born in New
Durham, Ontario, joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943.
He served as a PBY bomber pilot in World War II. While stationed in Victoria, British Columbia, he met Eileen McCreesh.
They married in 1945.
Rus graduated from Northwest Baptist Theological College in
1950 and then pastored Ladner First Baptist Church in British
Columbia. He and Eileen moved to the United States in 1955.
In the U.S., the Wauds were impressed with GARBC churches’
missionary support and Biblical views on theology. Rus pastored
First Baptist Church, Bellevue, Wash.; Boise (Idaho) Baptist
Temple; Faith Baptist Church, Sequim, Wash.; and Grace Baptist Church, Lynnwood, Wash. He retired in 1992.
He was preceded in death by a son, David.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen; a son, Dan; and two daughters, Debbie and Becky.
